Heather Locke Van Atta
Congratulations on your pregnancy!
It's a wild ride and I'm excited for you!
I'm Heather (she/her),
A DONA International Birth and Postpartum Doula, a Certified Hypnotherapist, and a Mother of two!
*I am also CPR Certified.
The day my daughter took her first breath, after 30 hours in labor, and consumed with exhaustion, I felt like a warrior, and my love for her was instant.
At that moment I also fell in love with birth.
Everyone's birth journey is unique to them. What I learned from my experience was how powerful I was as a woman and how I could have really used someone with knowledge and expertise to advocate for me.
Once both of my kids were old enough, I was able to make my dream come true and I became a Doula!
As a birth doula, I love that magical moment when my clients become parents. To see that immediate love for their baby and the moment of awe cross their face is priceless.
My desire is to give families the best birth experience possible. I love getting to know families and supporting them throughout their journey.
As a postpartum doula, I love giving parents the time they need to integrate into their new life. During my time with families, I provide support in getting them set up successfully for this new transition within their homes, their family, and their well-being. More specifically, that includes; lactation support, bottle feeding, breast pump services, looking after their baby, and most importantly, providing much-deserved rest.
On a personal note, some of my passions include advocacy, vintage finds, old cars, creating art (Halloween costumes, painted rocks, jewelry, ceramics, photography), traveling, the beach, camping, adventures, witty banter, and living by the mantra “Lead with love”.
I am a San Francisco native currently raising my two awesome kids
Zoe (11) and Cole (7), and 3 cats, in Oakland as a single mom.
Always learning, always evolving, always growing.
*I have had the pleasure and privilege to support and advocate for multicultural, LGBTQ+, Single Moms by Choice, and BIPOC families.*
